EMDR  lateral eye movements

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a powerful form of clinical psychotherapy used to facilitate the safe and rapid processing of difficult emotions and memories contributing to unwanted behaviour and symptoms.

EMDR uses rhythmical, lateral eye-movements to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain in rapid succession, activating neural pathways and safely dislodging mental “blockages” caused by trauma, emotional pain, and other psychological experiences. EMDR allows us to therapeutically process an event or experience that has been “trapped” or “buried” by psychological defence mechanisms, and ultimately enables us to Move On.

This form of therapy is suitable for anyone who feels unable to come to terms with a difficult experience, or is unable to identify the cause/origin of a persistent fear. Example issues include:

Trauma  -  Phobia  -  Relationship Breakdown  -  Prolonged Grief

   OCD/Checking Behaviours  -  Emotional Apathy  -  Nightmares

Unwanted Habits  -  Psychogenic Pain

This treatment can be used in conjunction with Hypnotherapy.

Due to the intensity of this treatment, the therapist may advise that you complete 2-3 sessions of Hypnotherapy before beginning EMDR.
